IBPS SO IV New Examination Pattern

IBPS SO notification is out and it is the last recruitment examination to be conducted by the recruitment examination this year. Several changes have been made by IBPS in the examination pattern of Specialist Officers. In this article, we are going to discuss the changes introduced in the pattern and also the preparation strategy for the examination.

IBPS SO: Changes in the Pattern

Professional Knowledge Matters: Your recruitment for the post will be done through professional knowledge and not through your score in other sections. These sections are only needed to be qualified.

Changes in Number of Questions: 50 questions will be there from all the sections in the examination this year. This means that we will have 50 questions from the sections like General Awareness, Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude. General Awareness section will contain question with special reference to banking and economic sectors.

Timing for Every Section: This year IBPS has introduced the concept of sectional timing and the candidates have to perform attempt each section within the given time limit. 30 minutes will be given to reasoning and general awareness section, 35 minutes will be there for professional knowledge and 25 minutes will be there for English section.

Marks for Professional Knowledge: This paper focuses mainly on professional knowledge. 50 questions of 80 marks will be there from professional section instead of 75 marks.

Marks Needed for Selection: Previous year, total marks needed for selection were 200 in written and 100 in interview which used to be normalized out of 100. From this year, 180 will be the marks needed for selection and these will be normalized out of 100 marks.

Preparation Strategy

Reply on Professional Knowledge: Obviously as more questions come from this section and on the basis of this section the selection is done, so, candidates should practice this section more.

Devote Little Time for Other Sections: In order to get selected you have to attain qualifying marks in other sections also, so one should devote some time to practice these sections as well.

Mock Tests: Online mock test is a great source of practice and to enhance question solving speed, so the candidates should take such tests on regular basis.
