Understanding New Examination Pattern of IBPS Clerk

Institute of Personnel Banking (IBPS) in its latest recruitment notification has announced several vacant posts of Clerk in its participating organizations like Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Allahbad Bank, Punjab National Bank, etc. The Preliminary examination for the the recruitment of the candidates will be conducted in the month of November/December 2016 and the main examination will be conducted in January 2017. The final results of IBPS clerk will be announced in April 2017. Some changes are made by IBPS in the examination pattern, which we are going to discuss in this article. Online registrations for the same are starting on 22.08.2016.

Grasping the New Examination Pattern

No Changes in the Pattern of Preliminary Examination: The good news for the aspirants of IBPS clerk is that there no changes are made in the examination pattern of Preliminary examination. Pattern of prelims is the same as it was previous year. So, prepare for this test in the same way as you had prepared the previous year.

More Weightage is Given to Quant and Reasoning Section: Candidates need to prepare these sections more rigorously as these two carry more marks in comparison to other sections. So, candidates need devote more time to the preparation of these sections.

Separate Timing for Each Section: From now onwards there will be separate time limit for each section of paper, which means candidates have to finish a particular section within given time period. You will not be able to spare more time to a particular than specified time limit. You will not get even a single minute for a section after you have exhausted the given time limit. Examination pattern is the same as it was for the exam conducted in June, 2016.

More Time is Alloted than Previous Year: Now more time is alloted to finish the exam. Candidates will not get 135 minutes to finish paper rather than 120 minutes, which was alloted the last year. Therefore, now you will get more time to finish the paper, but you have to use it as per the time alloted by IBPS.

Separate Vacancies for Separate States: IBPS has issued separate vacancies for different states. In the advertisment, it has issued vacancies state-wise. This will give the candidates a fair idea about their chances of getting selected based on their performance.

Computer Section: This section contains 40 questions, whereas time alotted to this section is 20 minutes and also the weightage given to this section is also 20 marks.
